Over the decades, The Claremont has been a popular location for dinner dances and concerts and a favorite locale for New Year's celebrations. In the early 1920's, radio station KRE transmitted dance music directly from the hotel. Listener's tuned in to for programs from "the Claremont, high atop
the Berkeley Hills".
From 1930 to the late 1940's, numerous groups/performers entertained at The Claremont including Horace Heidt and His Musical Knights, Dick Jurgen, Orrin Tucker, Kay Keyser, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and Lawrence Welk (this was Lawrence Welk's first performance outside of the midwest).
