Michelin Guide Recommends The Claremont Hotel Club and Spa
Michelin guide recommends The Claremont in their 2010 Guide (now at bookstores). The Claremont is one of only two hotels "East of San Francisco" to receive the Michelin recommendation. The rating notes:
Surrounded by 22 lovely landscaped acres in the hills overlooking San Francisco Bay, this gleaming, white castle-like edifice has been pampering guests since 1915. The grand tradition of 19th century resort spas cantinues here today, as the Claremont fulfills its promise to wrap guests in elegance.
If you like lodgings with plenty of activity, the Claremont is for you. Start with the fitness facility, where weight equipment, aerobics classes, and personal training are availabel. then there are ten tennis courts (six of which are lit for evening play), and two heated pools - one dedicated to lap swimming, the other to recreation (bloggers note - we also have a kid's pool!). For families, the hotel features a Kids Club, with babysitting services, games, movie nights, and other activities tailored to the younger set.
Dining options include Jordan's (bloggers note - now Meritage at The Claremont) for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch overlooking the bay; and Paragon Bar and Cafe' where live jazz entertains guests Thursday through Saturday nights.
Accommodations offer three degrees of comfort, all luxurious. One caveat: Request a quiet room. A few rooms face the refuse area, and any relaxation may vanish once you hear the noise made by the compactors at night (bloggers note - compactors do not run after 9 pm now).
Michelin provides rigorous and anonymous inspections. The first Michelin guide was published in 1900. Michelin's inspectors dine, drink and lodge as "regular" customers to evaluate the same level of service you would experience as a guest.
